A press conference on an Azerbaijani film which has gotten into the Short Film Palme d'Or program of the 67th Cannes International Film Festival was held in France. This festival is historic for Azerbaijan's cinema, because Azerbaijani films are participating in the main competitive programs for the first time.
Azerbaijan claims 2016 European Grand Prix Formula 1 deal

Azerbaijan claims that it has signed a deal that will result in it hosting Formula 1's European Grand Prix in 2016. The country's capital Baku has been linked with F1 for several months, but local political chiefs now suggest a contract has been agreed with Bernie Ecclestone to hold a street race in two years' time, a year after the former Soviet republic hosts the inaugural European Games.

Azerbaijani film in Cannes festival

An Azerbaijani movie will take part in Short Film Corner competition of Festival de Cannes. The film "Sonuncu" (The Last One) directed by Sergei Pikalov has been included in the competition program of short films of the 67th Cannes International Film Festival. This is the first time the competition of "Short Film" features works by Azerbaijani and Georgian filmmakers.

The irresistible power of Mugham -Azerbaijan's folk music- has inspired Jeffrey Werbock, the American who devoted his life to Azerbaijan's music, to create a documentary film that is going to be presented at all the major short film festivals.
Nigar Narimanbayova to exhibit paintings in Monaco

Famous artist Nigar Narimanbayova will represent Azerbaijan at the exhibition in Monaco on April 17-20. "My new series of paintings called 'All Life is a Theater' has been invited to participate in a very prestigious international contemporary art exhibition called 'Artists of the World', which will be held in Monaco in a stunning saloon called 'Espace Léo Ferré'," Narimanbayova said.
Baku pays tribute to conductor Rostropovich

An event dedicated to the 87th birth anniversary of eminent cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich was held in the house-museum of Leopold and Mstislav Rostropovich in Baku. During the event titled "The divine power, fate has led Rostropovich to conductor's stand" the participants praised the creative activities of Rostropovich. A collection of photographs, posters of concerts, conducted by the maestro was also put on display during the event.
Karabakh’s Khari Bulbul presented in U.S.

The Khari Bulbul flower, the symbol of Azerbaijan's Karabakh region, was presented in the United States. The presentation ceremony took place at the U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory on March 18 at the initiative of the Azerbaijani embassy in the United States, and with the organization of the Karabakh Foundation, AzerTag news agency reported.
Baku hosts Legend of Arms exhibition

Legend of Arms exhibition opened at Heydar Aliyev Center in capital Baku on March 15. Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, and Arzu Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony. The exhibition showcases arms and chain amours used in Europe back in the 16-18th centuries.
